Illinois Centre Healthcare in Marion provides the following services individual, marital and group counseling to persons age 18 and over; information and referral; case consultation and cooperative planning with other resources; psychological testing, psychiatric evaluation and prescription, and monitoring of psychotropic medications, when appropriate. Areas of specialization include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Family Violence and Intervention Programs. Program staff is available to provide education, training and consultation to community groups regarding specific issues and topics, critical incident stress debriefing, local program development, etc.
Counseling and Therapy includes a range of treatments for mental or emotional disorders in which one of more professionals meet with a client, family, or with a group of clients in ongoing periodic formal sessions. Counseling involves the use of problem-solving and support to improve the client’s ability to cope with problems in daily living, adaptive functioning and role functioning associated with his or her emotional, cognitive or behavioral symptoms.
Medication Services includes the activities by registered nurses that implement and support the medical aspects of the treatment plan as ordered by the psychiatrist. It may include medication administration/monitoring/training, assessment and documentation of the client’s response to medication, education of clients and families about medication-related issues, and helping to identify clients whose medication may need to be reviewed and/or changed.
Psychiatric Services are provided directly by a physician encompassing: a) psychiatric evaluation to determine a psychiatric diagnosis that may be amenable to treatment with psychopharmacological and other medical/psychotherapeutic interventions, b) treatment, including prescription, administration, and monitoring of response to medications and c) provision of clinical direction, and/or consultation to other mental health professionals in the development and implementation of a treatment plan.
