Teen Action Program

The Teen Action Program (TAP) is about building character and socialization skills for junior high students.  This weekly program uses the Search Institute's Developmental Asset framework as a backdrop for helping students navigate early adolescence.  TAP groups operate in Benton, Carterville, Herrin, Johnston City, Marion, and West Frankfort.

Recreation, service learning, and education are the core components of this fun and interactive program.  Students discuss topics of interest including internet safety, peer pressure, problem solving, conflict resolution, depression, and a wide range of other subjects of interest.  The TAP group is a safe environment for students to develop personal identity and grow some valuable interpersonal skills that will help them become more asset rich.

Students enter the program usually through teacher recommendation or open enrollment at the beginning of the school year.
